Chonon Sany graduated with honors in general surgery from Pacific State Medical University and completed a neurosurgery residency at the Burdenko Institute in Moscow. In 2013 he began his apprenticeship in Shipibo-Konibo plant medicine and in 2015 he moved to Peru.
He trained with maestros Guillermo Arévalo, Pascual Mahua Ochavano and Melquíades Vela, holds the title of Maestro Onaya recognized by the Shipibo community organization CoshiCox, and since 2023 is initiated in the Andean Q'eros tradition as Pampa Misayoq. He helped create the Ayahuasca Museum at Cordillera Escalera Ecolodge in Tarapoto.

Ask about datesEvery guest has a personal consultation and medical screening before being accepted: medications, heart health, psychiatric history. Some people are advised not to come, and we say so.
Ceremonies follow the Shipibo-Konibo tradition with icaros, the plant diet and preparatory practices: vomitivo, ripote, rapé, sananga and plant baths.
No more than 10 guests. The maestro leads every ceremony himself, stays with the group all night and holds integration circles the next day.

Yes. Most guests come for the first time. The consultation, preparatory practices and small group exist for exactly this reason.
Tell us during the consultation. Some medications, including SSRIs and MAOIs, are incompatible with ayahuasca and must be tapered with your own doctor weeks in advance. It is decided case by case, and sometimes the answer is no.
Maestro Chonon Sany leads every ceremony himself. He is a medical doctor by training and has practiced Shipibo plant medicine since 2013.
The maestro speaks Spanish and Russian. For English speakers we arrange translation; mention it in your application.
Fly to Lima, then take a direct flight to Tarapoto (TPP), about 1 h 15 min. We pick you up at the airport and drop you off at the end of the retreat.
